UX Lead

Integrating LEAN UX process into an already established Agile process. Educating dev squads and stakeholders on the importance of UX by quantifying design measurables and long term business costs. Responsible for managing user research and testing budget. Managing design deliverable priorities alongside Product. Coaching a fairly young design team working integrated within development squads and collaborating with marketing department on branding. Liaise with sales and support teams as regularly as possible to get indirect feedback from clients. Plan and execute research and testing cycles according to product roadmap.

Challenge

• Establishing short and long term business goals with stakeholders and setting clear deliverables for the design team

• Ensuring design LEAN UX cycles run alongside development squad’s 2-week sprint cycles in-line with product roadmap - with user testing and showcase included

• Conduct yearly and quarterly research planning & budgeting with UX researchers

• Coaching individual design team members with their needs and career aspirations

• Setting design guidelines and principles with the design team to adhere to a higher design standard and consistency across multiple streams of work and products

• Clearing roadblocks for design team members to ensure they could perform their best work.

• Manage and build positive and effective relationships with other leads in product, development, customer support, marketing and branding teams.

Process

Design completed from scratch to beta launch with 1 user within first 6 months of joining Console, increased intake to 50 users within first year and launch of 2 mobile apps by the 18th month of joining. Received great feedback from early adopters and received plenty of requests to take part in usability activities.
